Ermakov said on Saturday that the leading nuclear powers must adhere to the logic set out in the documents they co-created.

He was referring to a joint statement issued in January by Russia, China, Britain, the United States and France, in which the five countries – which are permanent members of the UN Security Council – agreed that further proliferation of nuclear weapons and nuclear weapons war must be avoided.

“Risks of a nuclear war that should never be unleashed must be minimized, in particular by preventing any armed conflict between the nuclear forces,” Ermakov was quoted as saying by TASS on Saturday. “Russia clearly follows this understanding.”
