A battle broke out during Shakur Stevenson’s press conference

One of the biggest nights in Shakur Stevenson’s life changed during his post-match press conference.

After the undefeated Newark native defeated Oscar Valdez to combine the WBO, WBC and The Ring super-lightweight titles, he got engaged to his girlfriend, rapper Young Lyric, on one knee and proposed to the ring.

But while he was speaking to reporters after the fight, a brawl broke out in front of the MGM Grand press conference in Las Vegas, and Stevenson relinquished his title and rushed into the scandals.

It is not clear who took part in the battle and what started it. The video shows Stevenson asking, “Where’s my mother?” According to Yahoo Sports, security did not allow Stevenson’s mother to attend the press conference. Stevenson’s manager James Prince told Yahoo that Stevenson and his mother were “fine”, while a spokesman for MGM Grand declined to comment on the website until more information was received.

Lance Pugmeyer of USA Today tweeted a video with punches and wrote: “The people from MGM and the boxer tried to tell us that there is nothing to see here.” Stevenson thought his mother was in trouble in the middle of a group of cops described to Pagmayer as “agitators.”

A video on Fight Hub TV shows Stevenson gathering his camp in a side room while security guards try to calm the commotion.
