Dallas Cowboys
Rating: C
After two consecutive years of exciting additions to the draft, this is a pretty unstoppable draw for the Cowboys. Smith’s potential is incredible because of his physical gifts, but it may take some time for him to develop. Williams’ choice felt like an achievement in the second round and this is not without risk. Tolbert, a dynamic receiver that flew under the radar coming out of South Alabama, was the most interesting choice. He should immediately take on a key role in replacing Amari Cooper along with CeeDee Lamb and Michael Gallup.
New York Giants
Rating: B +
There is a lot of volume here, which certainly can not hurt, given the state of the Giants list, but the success of this group will be determined by the top 10 pair. And it’s hard not to be impressed by the first-class talent added in trenches in the beginning. Thibodeaux finally gave New York a potential star pass, and Neil was widely considered the best attacker in its class. That alone is enough for a good estimate, although we would like to see better values on Day 2.
Philadelphia Eagles
Rating: A
Philly had an amazing weekend project. Davis is a unique defensive tact, which excludes the game of running and has a kind of wonderful athleticism to provide a slightly better pass. The Eagles’ second pick in the first round was changed to the Titans for AJ Brown, a star talent in dire need, and they essentially regained that value when they grabbed Dean, a potential Day 1 pick in the third round. And don’t forget about Jürgens, who could have started on guard before finally taking on Jason Kelche at center. This is how you manage the draft, people.
Washington commanders
Rating: B-
Adding Dotson to the host corps, which now includes Terry McClorin and Curtis Samuel, gives Washington a dynamic trio of pass hunters. And if Carson Wentz fights, bringing Howell to the top in the fifth round could be one of the thefts of this draft. Matisse and Robinson are supposed to be valuable role players, but it’s hard not to wonder if they could use their Day 2 picks to improve the secondary and offensive line. These places still stand out as potential problem areas for Washington, which is heading for next season.
