After a two-year hiatus over the Covid-19 pandemic, White House reporters’ dinner returned in full force on Saturday night.
During his comedic speeches, President Joe Biden delved into his predecessor, while joking about the press, the Republican Party and the continuing existence of the event as a whole. It was Biden’s first appearance at a well-attended event in Washington since taking office, and also the first time a US president has attended a dinner in six years.
The White House Correspondents Association, which hosts the annual Black Ties event, honored several journalists for their contributions, and the program was led by Daily Show host Trevor Noah.
