Charges against the rider include damage, possession of methamphetamine and a machete

The first national police service, Batchewana, has filed charges against a 30-year-old man, including a victim with a methamphetamine and a machete. The full text of the message follows:

On April 29, 2022, around 7:00 p.m., members of the Sault Ste Marie Squadron of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a complaint of trafficking of a possible motorcycle driver who left a store in Hayden and left in the direction of south on Highway 17 to Sault Ste Marie.

Shortly after 7:30 p.m., members of the Bachevan First Nation Police Service found the motorcycle parked in a local restaurant in the Bachevan First Nation community. The driver of the car tried to escape and was detained.

Police searched the driver’s backpack and found a machete, a small amount of suspected crystalline methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

As a result, Muhammad Kamadjihan, 30, of Searchmont, was charged with:

  • Escape from a peace officer, contrary to section 320.17 of the Penal Code (CC)
  • Surgery during injury – alcohol and drugs, contrary to section 320.14 (1) (a) of CC
  • Resist the Peace Officer, contrary to Article 129 (a) of the Penal Code
  • Possession of a dangerous weapon, contrary to Article 88 of the Penal Code
  • Possession of a substance on the I-methamphetamine list, contrary to section 4 (1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
  • Driving during a stop, contrary to section 53 (1) of the Road Traffic Act (HTA)
  • Driving a motor vehicle – incorrect license, contrary to section 32 (1) of the HTA
  • Use a plate that is not authorized for a vehicle, contrary to section 12 (1) (d) of the HTA
  • Failure to submit an insurance card, contrary to Article 3 (1) of the Compulsory Motor Insurance Act.

The accused is due to appear before the Court of Ontario in Sainte-Marie on June 13, 2022.
