A group of bombs landed on a street in Bolton after an explosion. Police were called in for reports of a “small explosion” in Longcove, Farnworth, around 10:10 p.m. Sunday night (May 1st).
The Army for the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) was present and discovered a “viable” device. The bomb disposal staff then made the device safe.
Police have not yet revealed the nature of the device or where the explosion occurred on the road. No one was arrested or injured, police said.

Greater Manchester police have already appealed for information about the blast. Detective Inspector Sarah Bell, of GMP at Bolton CID, said: “EOD was present and made the device safe, but confirmed it was a viable device.
“We are asking for information, in particular whether we can ask members of the public to check the recordings of CCTV cameras and cameras of Longcauseway and Moorhead Close.”
