The Quebec Police Surveillance Authority (BEI) will investigate the circumstances of a police intervention late Friday night involving the Ville de Montreal Police Department (SPVM).

The investigation concerns the death of a man in a train crash that occurred around 11:40 p.m.
The victim is a man who was arrested by police officers from Station 5 in Pointe-Claire about 20 minutes earlier for drunkenness on a public highway.
According to BEI, the man managed to leave the police after a short discussion of only a few minutes.
The exact place of the intervention is not specified by BEI, as well as the place where the fatal train accident took place.
Five BEI investigators were sent to start the on-site investigation. Sûreté du Québec (SQ) will act as an auxiliary police service in this file.
