A contract worker at an amusement park in New Jersey has died after falling from an elevator while working on an attraction on the promenade, according to officials.
Robert W. Sanger, 62, worked as a welder and was on an elevator in Gillian Wonderland Park in Ocean City, New Jersey during the crash, the city said in a press release. He fell from an unknown height shortly after 10:30 a.m. Monday and was rushed to a district hospital, but could not be saved.
Sanger lived in Pittsgrove, New Jersey and worked for a company called Cargo Tech International.

In a statement issued Monday, Mayor Jay A. Gillian – who is also president of Gillian Quay in Wonderland – said “the thoughts and prayers of the business go to his family”.
“We are cooperating with all relevant authorities to investigate in depth the cause of this tragic incident,” Gillian wrote. “When we get more information, we will provide it.”

The US Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating the death.
Monday’s tragedy comes just weeks after 14-year-old Tyr Sampson died on March 24 after falling from a free fall ride in Orlando, ICON Park in Florida. His death is also under investigation.
