4. The Bolshoi Theater cancels anti-war directors

The prestigious Russian Bolshoi Theater has announced that it has canceled performances directed by Kirill Serebrennikov and Timofey Kulyabin, which have spoken out against Moscow’s military campaign in Ukraine.

Russia’s Top Theater has announced that instead of three performances of Nureyev, a ballet directed by Serebrennikov, audiences will see a staging of Aram Khachaturian’s Spartak this week.

The famous theater also said that instead of “Don Pasquale”, a comic opera by Gaetano Donizetti, directed by Kulyabin, the audience this week will see a production of Gioachino Rossini’s “The Barber of Seville”.

Bolshoi did not give a reason for the cancellation, and spokeswoman Katerina Novikova said on Monday that there was no “official” comment.

Parts of the United Kingdom include a number of high-frequency transistors, examples of so-called dual-use electronics that can be used for both military and civilian purposes.
