President Biden is expected to sign an executive order and memorandum on national security Wednesday to advance quantum information science in a bid to put the United States in a position to “leap far ahead” of adversaries and mitigate the risks new technology poses to national and economic security.

The order aims to improve the National Advisory Committee on Quantum Initiative, which is an advisory body to the federal government on quantum information science and technology, by placing it under the leadership of the White House.
