Meta describes an ambitious VR schedule for the release of four handsets by 2024 – Information

Meta Platforms plans to launch four virtual reality headsets between now and 2024, according to an internal roadmap reviewed by The Information. The aggressive timeline reflects Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s desire to develop his vision for the metaverse by making more people use VR devices. However, whether he can meet the schedule is far from certain.

Meta plans to launch Project Cambria, a high-end headset for VR and mixed reality that will be charged as a device for the future of the job, around September, according to someone familiar with the matter. Cambria was originally scheduled to be released last year, but its launch was delayed due to the supply chain and other pandemic problems, which could again delay the launch date, the man said. A second version of the Cambria, codenamed Funston, is expected to be released in 2024.
