Michael Bunting will return to the Maple Leafs for Game 2 against Lightning

Toronto Maple Leafs striker Michael Bunting will return to the Toronto Maple Leafs for Game 2 against Tampa Bay Lightning, boosting the team’s attack after a win in Game 1.

Bunting missed the last three games of the Maple Leafs of the regular season, as well as their 5-0 victory at the beginning of the series against Lightning on Monday, due to a knee injury. His return began to seem inevitable on Tuesday when he took to training in his usual place with Aston Matthews and Mitch Marner.

“It’s day after day,” Bunting said. “I felt pretty good outside, I was obviously in regular queues and I felt good, I felt like my speed was there and everything like that, so I’m pretty happy with that.”

Bunting scored 23 goals and added 40 assists in 79 regular-season games this year.
