SoundCloud grabs a music AI technology company to help discover music

SoundCloud believes the next big thing on its platform relies on AI and machine learning, as the company announced it has acquired Musiio, which will help SoundCloud’s existing music intelligence capabilities and help the company identify what’s coming in music trends. and talents.

Musiio’s technology focuses on searching for B2B audio references, meaning AI that can “listen” to music, automated tagging, and playlist tools for the music industry. SoundCloud explains the impact of this acquisition:

By “listening” to more songs than one can understand and identifying features and patterns, its AI allows users to better predict success, which in turn can increase their “visit rate” and ultimately their income. With its flagship product suite and deeper integration with SoundCloud, Musiio will become the core of SoundCloud’s discovery experience and help identify talents and trends ahead of everyone else.

Interestingly, Apple’s Shazam takes a different approach. By early 2022, the audio instrument announced its breakthrough forecasts for artists for the current year and said it relied on “the curiosity of everyday fans to tell a story about what’s next:”

Shazam reveals artists from all over the world, using the curiosity of everyday fans to tell a story about what’s next. Each year brings a new group of artists who seem to control their specific corners of the music ecosystem, forcing listeners to look for songs they can’t get enough of.

Eliah Seton, president of SoundCloud, says: “Musiio is accelerating our strategy to better understand how this music moves in its own way, which is crucial to our success.”

The company has announced that it will integrate Musiio employees, as well as its CEO and CTO as vice presidents.

9to5Mac will take care to report once Musiio’s capabilities are tied to the SoundCloud ecosystem.
