A man died after a fire in a house in Bury.
At around 8.20 this morning (Wednesday), emergency services were called to Cherry Avenue at the scene. A fire broke out in a property, police said.
A man – about 70 years old – was unfortunately pronounced dead at the scene. An investigation is currently underway.

A cordon remains at the scene, and fire and police teams are stationed in front of the property. Forensic scientists have been spotted working in the cordon.
A GMP spokesman said in a statement: “Officers were called around 8.20 this morning (May 4, 2022) for a fire alert at Cherry Avenue, Bury. Emergency services were present, and despite the best efforts of medical staff, a man in his 70s was pronounced dead at the scene.
“A joint investigation with GMFRS colleagues is under way and emergency services remain in place. Anyone who has information can report it online or via LiveChat at www.gmp.police.uk. Alternatively, details can be provided anonymously through the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. ”
