The town of Seminole was hit hard by a tornado on Wednesday night.

Bob Mills SkyNews 9 is also investigating severe damage from a storm at The Academy of Seminole, located near US Route 377 and EW Highway 123.
A school official told News 9 that people at the school sought refuge in a safe room during the storm.
“Supt. Hofmeister spoke to the head of the school. He was on his way to the school at the time. He told its local staff that they could take shelter and were well,” state spokesmen told News 9.
Seminole County Sheriff Shannon Smith is asking people to avoid the area. First aid workers are currently finding it difficult to respond to the city.
Smith also said that city storm sirens are not released due to the lack of electricity in the city.
At 22:31 on Wednesday, Oklahoma Gas and Electric reported that more than 4,500 residents of the Seminoles (4,529) were without electricity. The 4,529 outages represent more than 97 percent of OG&E’s customers in the city.
