Apple Music replaces some apps in the iPhone Dock when installed from the App Store

Apple Music seems to be replacing some apps (even third-party) on the iPhone docking station once it’s installed.

As MacRumors first reported, several reports of the problem have surfaced on Twitter and Reddit. In one case, Twitter user Kevin Archer said that Apple Music only replaces non-Apple applications. However, TechCrunch says this is not the case and that Apple Music is taking over Apple’s and Safari’s own docking camera application.

It seems that if you download the Apple Music app from the App Store, it will automatically appear on the docking station of your device (iPhone), more than that it will change any other 3d party app with the Music app. If you only have Apple apps on your docking station, it won’t do anything. pic.twitter.com/c0pkO9G2pq

Other reports indicate that Apple Music is automatically set as the default music streaming platform on the iPhone when installed, even if another application is already set. The problem seems to affect iOS devices running 15.4.1 and earlier on iOS 15.

While it would make sense to assume that this is not a mistake and is a deliberate move by Apple, this is probably not the case, given the microscope that the company is currently working on in favor of its own applications.

I just checked this on iOS 15.4.1. With Spotify installed on the docking station, installing Apple Music removes Spotify from the docking station and puts Apple Music there – without asking. It happens without starting Apple Music, so apparently Apple has set up its OPERATING SYSTEM to do this!

However, Epic CEO Tim Sweeney claims that when he installed Apple Music, Spotify was removed from the docking station, saying that Apple had “tuned in” iOS to favor its own Dock applications despite the arbitrary nature of the error.

Apple will probably solve this problem relatively quickly.
