We are pleased to announce that Mikel Arteta and Jonas Eideval have signed new contracts with the club.
We celebrated the moment with a unique double signing at the Emirates Stadium.
“I’m excited, I’m grateful and really, really happy today,” Mikel said after signing the extension, which runs until the end of the 2024/25 season.
“When I talked to Josh, he could see the club at the same time and he wanted to take the club the way I wanted to do it. So everything he said and what Stan said when I was with the two of them always delivered them.
“We want to take the club to the next level and really compete with the best teams. To do that, we have to play in the Champions League. We need to be able to develop the team, to improve our players, to improve all the departments, to generate even more connection with our fans, to improve the atmosphere in the Emirates, to be able to recruit the best, the best talents and the best people for this club to manage this project to this level. “
Jonas Eideval also set the pen for a new deal after an impressive first season in London, in which he took on the challenge for the Women’s Super League title until last weekend.
Jonas, who joined us from Sweden’s Rosengard last summer, signed a contract until the end of the 2023/24 season.
“It’s great,” he said. “It allows me to continue working for a club that I love so much, and to be among people I really, really like, and to be able to achieve things together, so I’m really looking forward to that.”
Speaking on behalf of our owners, Kroenke, Sports & Entertainment, Josh Kroenke said: “My father and I are happy to have extended the contracts of both Mikel and Jonas. It provides stability and clarity for the future and helps us move forward effectively.
“Mikel’s commitment and passion are clear to everyone. We are confident that as we move forward, he will take us back to the competition for the best trophies in the game.
“Turning to Jonas, he had a fantastic start to his career in England. He did a great job with the team and we are in dispute for the title last weekend. We are confident that he will continue to lead us forward in the years to come. “
The two signed their contracts together in the box of directors, overlooking the grounds of the Emirates Stadium, in the presence of CEO Vinay Venkatsham technical director Edu Gaspar and women’s football manager Claire Whitley.
“I think the weather is perfect,” Ed said. “I really believe that the message will be a great influence for everyone. To the fans, to the club, to the players, to Mikel.
“It’s important to show everyone where we want to go as a club. We will face a great summer again and it is important to have our manager here. “
Vinay added: “The ambition of this football club is simple and comes from the owners down. This football club has to compete for the biggest trophies in the game, in Europe and England by men and women. This is where we want to go, we know we are not there yet, but we are moving towards that goal. I hope that everyone can see the progress we are starting to make against this goal.
“Today is a really, really important day, because Mikel and Jonas are committed here again with us, for Arsenal, for the project and for the trip.
“There is a long way to go and a lot of hard work ahead, but with Mikel and Jonas we are convinced that we have the right people surrounded by the teams around them who can help us get there.”
