Road near Horton Inn closed after crash

A car crashed into a telegraph pole on a rural route in Dorset on Friday morning.

Drivers were urged to avoid the area after the B3078 crash near the Horton Inn around 8.30am.

A woman was taken to hospital with injuries that are not considered serious.

Dorset police said: “We were called at 8:29 a.m. to report a collision with a car on Cranborne Road near the Horton Inn.

“It has been reported that a car crashed into a telegraph pole.

“The officers were present together with the fire brigade and the ambulance, and the roads were closed.

The spokesman added: “The woman who was treated by the ambulance was taken to hospital for treatment of injuries that are not considered serious.

“Recovery is currently being organized and staff remain at the scene.

“The road is completely blocked and will be until we recover.

“Please use other routes if you can.”

The Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “At 8:35 this morning we were called to the RTC on B3078 Cranborne Road, Horton.

“Crews from Cranborn and Verwood were mobilized for the incident and on arrival found a vehicle on its roof with a man trapped.

“The crews used hydraulic cutting equipment to remove the victim from the vehicle and were handed over to paramedics.

“The stop returned at 9.57am and the crews stayed until 10.40am.”

The road was reopened shortly after noon.
