US intelligence “helped Ukraine kill Russian generals”

The United States has provided intelligence to Ukrainian forces, which has helped kill a number of high-ranking Russian generals, security sources said.

The level of intelligence sharing and its effectiveness have been unprecedented in modern warfare, according to US officials.

In an interview with the New York Times, senior security sources, who wished to remain anonymous, said the United States had used “various sources, including classified and commercial satellites, to track the movement of Russian troops.”

Ukraine believes that at least 12 Russian generals were killed in the war. US officials declined to say how many generals were killed as a result of intelligence they provided to Ukrainian forces.

Ukraine is using Western intelligence on intercepted radio and telephone communications to destroy generals and other targets.

Valery Gerasimov, Vladimir Putin’s top general in Ukraine, came within minutes of being killed by laser-aimed artillery fire this week when intelligence revealed he was on a secret visit to the Russian front line, Ukraine said.
