Formula 1 will race for the first time in Miami this weekend at the Miami International Speedway.
Miami will be on the Formula One calendar for the next 10 years as the sport continues its impressive track record in America following Netflix’s 2018 Drive to Survive.
This weekend’s Miami GP was likened to Superbowl with the brilliance and brilliance of the show.
The layout of the track is fast and favors the setting with low downforce, which can play in the hands of Red Bull.
Red Bull have not presented any improvements this weekend, while rivals Ferrari have a new rear ring with low clamping force.
In an attempt to turn their season around, Mercedes brought new improvements to Miami.
Mercedes struggled one last time at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, although George Russell managed to save fourth after a stormy start.
Seven-time Formula One champion Lewis Hamilton is fighting until the 13th after staying behind AlphaTauri’s Pierre Gasley for much of the Imola race.
Mercedes introduced a new rear wing as well as a wing with a beam, while making changes to the end plate of the front wing of the W13.
He wants to reduce the resistance levels that W13 currently produces with low downforce and straight line speed, which are crucial to this new circuit in Miami.
Speaking before Friday’s training session, Hamilton doubts the impact that Mercedes’ improvements may have on their strong performance.
“You can expect us to do our best,” Hamilton said. “We tried our best and there was a lot of work in the background. You can see that we have a new rear wing, for example, so I’m just grateful for everyone who keeps their heads down and for the incredible hard work that everyone is doing.
“I don’t expect much change in that sense.”
McLaren will hope to continue their upward trajectory after Lando Norris finished third in Imola, but Alfa Romeo and Alpine have shown impressive pace in recent rounds.
In terms of off-piste action, a storm is brewing over Hamilton’s jewelry.
The FIA has taken a tougher stance on wearing jewelry, with new F1 race director Nils Vitych informing all teams that additional checks will be included as part of the pre-event check declaration form.
Hamilton had previously said he had no plans to comply with the regulation, insisting that his earrings and nose stud could not be physically removed.
The seven-time world champion arrived at a press conference ahead of Friday’s Miami event adorned with jewelry, including eight rings, four necklaces, two earrings, a bracelet and three watches – suggesting once again that he has no plans to change his position.
