A huge Russian warship was reportedly hit by Ukrainian missiles earlier today in what has been described as “another failure of the Russian navy”. It is believed that “Admiral Makarov” was set on fire after the attack in the Black Sea.
Reports indicate that it was near Snake Island and a rescue operation involving planes and boats was launched. Writing in the Telegram, Ukrainian MP Alexei Goncharenko said that the ship was hit by “Neptune” missiles on his side, reports the Mirror.
He said: “There is new information about another failure of the Russian fleet near our shores. Unofficial Russian sources say that the latest missile frigate “Admiral Makarov” is in trouble.

It is equipped with modern air defense systems and is armed with Caliber cruise missiles. Or it was. The ship was severely damaged but remained afloat. For now. We are waiting. ”
Ukrainian official Anton Gerashchenko backed the reports, saying: “The Admiral Makarov frigate is on fire off the shores of Snake Island. “According to preliminary data, the ship was hit by Ukrainian Neptune missiles.
“Enemy aircraft are now operating in the ship’s disaster zone, and Russian Navy ships have left the temporarily occupied Crimea to help the sinking ship.
Other unconfirmed reports say the warship was hit by Ukrainian missiles near the Sevastopol naval plant in Crimea’s Black Sea region.
However, Dumskaya, a well-known local newspaper in Odessa, said: “Operational Command South has not yet confirmed the defeat of an enemy ship near Snake Island.”
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine added a “+1” to the boat column in its daily report on Russian losses this morning, which they tweeted. Admiral Makarov is one of only three frigates in this class operating in the Black Sea.
They added that Ukrainian planes were flying over them, and the rescue operation was continuing, and that satellite images from the area appeared to confirm that the ship was on fire. Admiral Makarov’s significant damage would be a serious blow to Putin’s forces.
Put into operation only in 2017, the Makarov is one of the most modern warships in Russia and has a crew of about 200 people, it is estimated. Now it is one of the largest frigates that Russia can make at the moment, because Moscow traditionally has its large marine engines from Ukraine.
It is armed with Caliber missiles, as well as torpedoes, Ka-27 or Ka-31 helicopters and Orlan-10 military drones. Flight trackers show numerous planes and drones circling over the Black Sea region.
A Forbes report says Russian commanders are aware that Admiral Makarov will now be Ukraine’s target.

Videos have been circulating on social media claiming to show the frigate igniting. This new blow comes shortly after Russia’s Black Sea flagship Moscow was sunk.
