The next AirPods Pro is on the way, and early users who bought it more than two years ago may be grateful. That’s according to Mark German of Bloomberg in his latest Power On newsletter.
Gourmet confirms rumors that the next AirPods Pro, the second generation version, will arrive this year.

As he points out, it will be almost three years since the first version arrives on AirPods Pro 2. This means that if you had previously adopted – as I did – your headphones will need to be refreshed or, as Gourmet says: “The current model is on the market from the fall of 2019, so the batteries are probably already in trouble for some early adopters. “
I will only add that from a personal note, my AirPods Pro is doing well without a noticeable drop in performance.
But I may not be alone and others may enjoy the upgrade. Gourmet sets the time for new AirPods Pro “in the fall”. This is not a big surprise, but keep in mind that the original AirPods Pro was not released at Apple’s presentation, but separately, so don’t expect the next headphones to be announced along with the next iPhone, for example.
There are already many reports on the next headphones, including sensors that will make them sophisticated health monitoring devices.
And it looks like a likely new design, including a reduced barrel compared to the current model or even no barrel.
Will the next AirPods Pro be lossless?

More importantly than the design, the next AirPods Pro is likely to offer lossless audio. I’ve talked to Apple a lot about lossless audio, and it seems to me that offering it on Apple’s own headphones, something that isn’t available right now, is probably a priority for R&D boys.
Gourmet is also talking about AirPods Max. Although it is not believed that there is an update to the headphones over the ears, new colors may be on the way. And even a drop in price, Gourmet hopes, though I’m less sure.
The new colors would be good and make sense – Apple loves to update the colors in its iPhone and iPad range, so why not AirPods Max?
And if the next AirPods Pro manages lossless audio, updating the best AirPods Max seems like a serious option, even racing security.
AirPods Pro 2 and the new colors of AirPods Max will almost certainly be hers in a matter of months. Expect more details as we have them.
