Crowds watch Hurricane’s plane soar over Southampton

Crowds watched in awe as a hurricane rose in the Southampton sky this afternoon.

Hundreds of people in Mayflower Park caught a glimpse of Spitfire as part of a Battle of Britain flight that visited the city.

The spring was organized by The Veterans Charity to mark VE Day today.

The plane made two laps around the docks before returning north around 1:15 p.m. this afternoon.

The battle for Britain of the RAF headed from Buckinghamshire to the docks of Southampton and along the way passed Farnham, Basingstoke, Hook, Winchester and Eastleigh.

The flight arrived at the docks and amazed the crowds, and they flew overhead before heading out of the county and back to Suffolk.
