Jeremy Clarkson’s plan to expand parking for farm shops rejected

Jeremy Clarkson has received a request to expand his Diddly Squat Farm Shop – made famous by his Amazon Prime Video farming program – rejected for the second time this year.

The former host of Top Gear is looking to expand the store’s parking lot from 10 to 70.

He was met with about 30 comments from villagers, some citing concerns about the chaos in traffic around Chadlington, Oxfordshire – but an equal number expressed support.

The application was rejected on Friday by the West Oxfordshire County Council, which said the proposed development would not be sustainable or compatible in scale with the existing agricultural business or its open location in the province.

“[It] there will be a visually intrusive and detrimental impact on the rural character, scenic beauty and tranquility of the Cotswolds area of outstanding natural beauty and the Wychwood project area, ”writes Abby Fetz, Development Manager.

Last month, Mr Clarkson responded to suggestions that his local village was opposed to expanding the car park by tweeting a list of some of the plan’s supporters.
