Judge Benjamin Lane initially sealed the criminal complaint, but decided on Thursday to release an edited version in response to media demands.
According to the complaint, Lily was declared missing on the evening of April 24, after she did not return from a visit to her aunt’s house in Chipeva Falls. Searchers found her body the next morning.

A detective interviewed the boy on April 26. The complaint did not say what led investigators to him, although police say the boy and Lily know each other.
According to the document, the boy told the detective that he was driving his hoverboard with Lily on a path in Chipeva waterfall and that he intended to attack and kill her, according to the complaint.
He asked Lily to leave the trail and explore the forest with him, after which he attacked her, according to the complaint. It is written that the boy was “scared” and left the scene, but later returned to cover Lily’s body with leaves.
The boy remains in custody on $ 1 million bail. He is considered an adult in the criminal justice system, but his lawyers could ask Lane to drop the case in juvenile court. His next appearance in court is scheduled for June 24.
The boy’s lawyer, Michael Cohen, did not return voicemail or emails.
