UFC 274 will be held this weekend in Phoenix, Arizona, as the title of the belt meetings for men in the lightweight category and for women. Anyone who has read my previews before will know that I am a big fan of Trevor Whitman and will have another busy night with Justin Getzhi, who is fighting for the lightweight strap, and Rose Namayunas, who wants to defend her straw belt.

UFC 274TV: BT Sport 1 – Main card from 3 am, Sunday, May 8
* All starting times of the battle are approximate
4:15 a.m. Sunday, May 8
The UFC does not take prisoners and this is a difficult match for Tony Ferguson, given what we saw from him in his last three fights. He has always had a style that you think will catch up with him at some point. El Kukui has always been funny and this winning streak will become a legend, but he has always been hit.
He took 3.78 beats per minute during his UFC career. Justin Getty dealt him a severe blow in May 2020, while Charles Oliveira did the same later that year. Benel Dariusz probably caused less damage to the 38-year-old, but beat him comfortably. Michael Chandler could have taken a similar path to victory as Dariusz, but his IQ didn’t look the best on his previous two outings, so I’m not sure I’d trust him to do that.
However, given where Ferguson looks at this point in his career, I’m not sure he needs to have the smartest game plan to be a winner here. We know so much about the two fighters at this stage, I don’t expect to see something we haven’t seen before and I personally would like a little more juice in the price before considering betting, literally and figuratively, on Tony Ferguson here.
I guess Chandler will be swinging like he has since signing for the UFC, and if he manages to land on Ferguson, like Hooker, Oliveira or Getty did, then I think the veteran may be in trouble.

I’m a big fan of the matchmaking of two old school fighters like these against each other. As I said earlier in this article, the UFC doesn’t take prisoners, but I think it’s more enjoyable for fans and better for fighters like Cerrone and Lauzon to face each other. I think both boys are very close to the end of their careers and they have both suffered a lot of losses lately.
Until this battle takes place, Cerrone will not win for more than three years, suffering five losses during that time, three of which come in the first round. The cowboy has always been known as something of a slow start, and it’s hard to imagine that he’s gotten faster with age and given what we’ve seen from him lately.
Lauzon is known as a faster starter and has exchanged wins and losses throughout his career. His last fight took place in 2019, a victory in the first round over Jonathan Pierce, who recorded three victories in the UFC after this battle.
Of Lauzon’s 43 professional fights, 16 ended in the first round. Both fighters absorb more beats per minute than the ground, something that promises good for a selection like this. In terms of prices, I think you’re getting good compensation to end this battle sooner.

I don’t have a selection in this battle, but I wanted to talk about it because it’s such an intriguing match. Personally, I would like this fight to be a little closer in price than it is now, and I don’t hate to bet on Justin Gage on prices, but I find it a really tough battle for selection.
By simply breaking things down, Gaethje will try to turn this into a phone booth tear, like his candidate for the fight of the year against Michael Chandler at UFC 268. Since Charles Oliveira is so experienced in his game on the ground, this is not the place. where the American will want to play. However, this is a space you may find yourself in if you find yourself having success on your feet. At 73%, Gaethje’s takedown defense is impressive and we haven’t actually seen him in control for a long time, so it would be interesting to see what Oliveira can do with The Highlight on her back. One could imagine that if the battle ended here, the loss of Oliveira.
Do Bronx’s problem with his legs is that he is very hit and this is what Getji will be looking to reveal – although he is hit in the same way, but he strikes at a higher speed and a better percentage than Oliveira. One of the ways Gaethje will seek to thwart Oliveira’s potential to end the battle on earth is by kicking his limbs on the steps. If he manages to limit the Brazilian’s dexterity before the battle reaches the ground, it will be a huge victory for Gaethje. This is such a good match and I can’t wait to see how it develops.
Enjoy the battles!
