Strong Minds is hosting a successful Run for Change

After two years of virtual running, Strong Minds excitedly welcomed the runners again in person to take part in their fifth annual Run for Change.

The machine shop hosted the event for the first time, in which participants ran 5 km on a beautiful Saturday morning. The coastal part was included in the course, which created an incredibly picturesque route.

The run coincides with Children’s Mental Health Week and Strong Minds is a close partner with Algoma Family Services to provide health initiatives throughout the week, helping to increase physical and mental well-being.

Strong Minds CEO and event coordinator Amanda Lambert says running has been a huge success and wants to see more points that help address the mental health issues that exist in the community.

“Mental health is so important,” she said. “We really need to have more resources and services, especially after we start coming out of the pandemic. All the money we raise is donated back to community mental health initiatives. ”

In addition to raising money, running was aimed at ending the stigma associated with mental health and addiction.

After the event, the runners gathered at OutSpoken Brewing for an after-party.
