Two people have been arrested and charged in connection with a fatal double stabbing in Mississauga more than two years ago.
On December 28, 2019, just before 1 am, police were called to an apartment in the Glen Erin Drive and The Collegeway area for two men involved in a brawl.
When police arrived, they found two men, Maxwell Charles, 44, and Jamal Holder, 29, outside the residence with stab wounds. They were later pronounced dead.
During the incident, police said they were not looking for any suspects, saying “this is an isolated incident between the two men.”
However, on Friday, police said they had arrested two people from Dundalk, Ont. in connection with the case.
“After a lengthy investigation, the evidence shows that the information initially learned by the parties involved is inaccurate. This has subsequently led to charges,” a Peel police spokesman said in a statement.
Unique Charles, 22, was charged with two counts of second-degree murder, while Sandra Pereira, 45, was charged with two counts of complicity in murder after the fact.
Police say all parties involved are known.
Police continue to ask anyone who has information, including CCTV footage or video cameras, who may have captured the moments before, during and after the incident, to contact them at 905-453-2121 ext. 3205 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
