More weather warnings on BC highways on Monday morning.
Environment Canada has issued a special meteorological declaration for the Coquihalla – Hope to Merritt and Trans-Canada Highway – Eagle Pass to Rogers Pass.
Environment Canada is calling for potential waves over high mountain passes.
Snow levels continue to move near the top of Coquihalla today. In general, light precipitation is expected on the high sections of the route. Attacks of stronger waves are possible, but they must be short and localized.
Similar driving conditions are expected on the Trans-Canadian motorway – the Eagle Pass to the Rogers Pass.
Weak waves are generally expected on the highest sections of the highway, including the Rodgers Pass, which begin this afternoon and continue until Tuesday. Attacks of stronger waves are possible, but they will be short and localized. During this period, cold and unstable conditions will keep snow levels near these high areas.
A snowfall warning is also in force for Highway 3 – Paulson Peak to Kutenai Pass, with long periods of snow expected with possible total amounts of 20 to 30 cm.
Heavy snowfall is expected to continue over the Kutenai Pass. An interference moving inland will bring rainfall to the region.
The Kootenay Pass received more than 20 cm of snow on Sunday and another 5 cm is expected today, but the snow above the Paulson Summit is expected to be generally light.
