In the film, Marge (Gwyneth) talks about Dickie (Jude) with Ripley (Matt) and says, “Things with Dickie … it’s like the sun is shining on you and it’s great. The Hindustan Times was able to verify Amber’s testimony based on a live version available to the public to find that the actor did not actually steal replicas from or quote “The Talented Mr. Ripley.” In fact, the above-mentioned remarks are nowhere to be found in her testimony. In parts of her testimony, her language and tone are similar to that. One specific statement in the testimony is that Amber states: “When I was around Johnny, I felt like the most beautiful person in the world – then he would disappear.” This is similar to the line from the film, but not a “literal” copy. The international fact-finding website Snopes and the news magazine Newsweek also conducted their own independent analysis of the testimony and came to the same conclusion. “The rumor that Amber Heard quoted the film ‘The Talented Mr Ripley’ in her testimony is false, these phrases were not uttered during her testimony,” Newsweek concluded.
