Roads were closed after part of the bridge collapsed on Highway 403 in Brantford, Ont.

The Brant County OPP closed the western lanes of Wayne Gretzky Parkway Highway 403 after part of a bridge collapsed on Monday afternoon.

Traffic is diverted from 403 Garden Avenue and King George Road and passengers will need to use Colborne Street or Fairview Drive to bypass the highway, according to Cst. Conrad Vitalis.

Vitalis said a concrete barrier fell from Wayne Gretzky Parkway and onto 403 Alexander Graham Bell Parkway in Brantford, Ont.

“This closure will be some time before engineers can determine whether the bridge and overpass will be safe for traffic and debris removal on the roadway,” Viatlis said on Twitter.
