Suspect, named after a gun and ammunition found in the house

The suspect is named after a gun and ammunition found in a house in Liverpool.

At around 7.50pm on Friday, May 6, police carried out an order at Lyle Street in Vauxhall. Police seized firearms and ammunition from the address.

Three men, aged 21, 19 and 17, all from Liverpool, were arrested on suspicion of possession of an unlicensed firearm. All three were detained for questioning, and 21-year-old Joseph Childs of Lyle Street has been charged with possession of firearms and ammunition.

He is on remand and will appear in court on Monday, May 9. The 17-year-old and 19-year-old detainees have already been released on parole.

A Merseyside police spokesman said: “We have charged a 21-year-old man with firearms crimes. At around 7.50pm on Friday, 6 May, police carried out an order at Lyle Street, Vauxhall.

“Officers found firearms and ammunition. Three men, aged 21, 19 and 17, all from Liverpool, have been arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm without a certificate.

“All three were detained for questioning. Joseph Childs, 21 of Lyle Street, Liverpool, is now charged with possession of firearms and ammunition.

“He has been detained and will appear in court tomorrow morning, Monday, May 9. The arrested 17-year-olds and 19-year-olds have been released on parole.”
