A man struck by accident as he walked along Dallas Road

Victoria police are looking for witnesses after a man was punched in the face by a stranger while walking down a path to Dallas Road on Saturday night. The victim reported the incident to police on Sunday.

Victoria police are looking for witnesses after a man was punched in the face by a stranger while walking down a path to Dallas Road on Saturday night.

The victim reported the incident to police on Sunday. He said he was alone walking west on the path to Dallas Road, near the intersection of Dallas Road and Government Street, when he was approached by three men and three women heading east at about 7 p.m. The man was listening to his earphones when one of the men in the group suddenly hit him in the face.

The victim fell to the ground, losing his earphones.

The assailant helped him find the earphones before heading with the group to Beacon Hill Park. He did not say anything to the victim, who has facial injuries.

The suspect is described as white and aged 25 to 30 with a muscular, athletic physique.

Police said they had responded to a growing number of reports of accidental attacks. They advise anyone who is attacked or standing up to move to a well-populated area and call 911.
