Investigation into murder after “brutal, protracted attack” on 26-year-old woman in West Lothian

Police have launched an investigation into a murder after a “brutal, prolonged attack” on a 26-year-old woman.

Amy Jane Cannon was found with a number of serious injuries at a property in West Calder, West Lothian.

It was unveiled at the Learmonth Crescent property around 6:35 p.m. on Saturday, May 7.

Mrs. Cannon was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her death is now being treated as murder and an investigation is under way, led by officials from Scotland’s main police investigation team.

Detective Superintendent Andrew Patrick said: “Our thoughts are with Amy’s family and friends at this difficult time.

“Amy was the victim of a brutal, prolonged attack and we will have a permanent police presence in the area as our investigation continues.

“I would like to assure the local community that everything is being done to find the person responsible.

“I would also urge anyone who may have information that could help our investigation to come forward.

“We would like to speak to anyone who may have seen or heard any signs of disturbance at the Learmonth Crescent property to get in touch.

“We are also studying video surveillance as part of our investigation, and anyone who may have private footage, perhaps from a control camera or a bell, is asked to check it out and give us something noticeable.

Detectives have created an online portal to encourage the public to provide information.
