Ottawa police have filed charges against a 42-year-old Ottawa man on a long list of charges related to human trafficking and sexual assault.
Police say the crimes were committed over a six-year period between 2016 and 2022. The Ottawa Police Trafficking Unit launched an investigation in April after a survivor showed up at police and revealed information to investigators.
Reza Marandi was charged Wednesday with the following:
- Administering something harmful / intent to injure / irritate x3
- Sexual violence as a party to a crime with any other person x2
- Forced detention x2
- Material benefits from sexual services x2
- Acquisition / hiring of a person for the provision of sexual services against payment x2
- Sexual violence x2
- Attack x2
- Sexual violence causing bodily harm
- Assault with a weapon or imitation of a weapon
- Trafficking in human beings through control, etc.
- Financial / property benefits / trafficking in human beings over 18 years of age
- Advertising another person’s sexual services
- Harassment through threatening behavior towards another person
- Expressing threats / death or personal injury
- Post an intimate image without consent
- Illegal access to child pornography
- They illegally possess child pornography
- Sexual violence with suffocation
Police say Marandi used social media nicknames and dating apps, including Razzer Sharpe and Sammy Majour. Police said they released photos because there may be victims who do not know his official name.

Marandi was due to appear in court on Wednesday.
