Lisa Cook won Senate confirmation for the Federal Reserve

The Senate voted to confirm Lisa Cook in the Federal Reserve, making her the first black woman to sit on the central bank.

Ms. Cook was approved Tuesday in a 51-50 party vote, with Vice President Kamala Harris breaking the tie. Ms. Cook is the second Federal Reserve nominee to President Biden to win Senate confirmation, after Fed Governor Lael Brainard, who was approved as deputy chairman of the central bank last month.
