Microsoft issues critical warning for Windows 10! Your computer is at risk if you do not take action now

Windows users need to make sure their computers are fully up-to-date with the latest software to avoid falling victim to cybercrime. Microsoft has just pushed a major security upgrade to its popular operating systems, which fix a total of 74 issues, some of which are so serious that they have received a “critical” rating from Redmond. This is one of the highest signals and means that Microsoft is concerned that some of the errors may soon be exploited by hackers.

If that wasn’t enough to reach for the download button, then there’s more bad news, as one of the issues fixed in this latest version received a zero-day rating.

In case you didn’t know yet, zero day warnings are the worst nightmare for any gadget owner. This is because it is possible – and very likely – the problem is known to hackers and is currently being actively exploited. That’s why Microsoft hastened to release the fix so quickly in an attempt to protect computers from future attacks.

This bug, which addresses a weakness in the Windows security component, is thought to affect computers running Windows 7 to Windows 10. It’s not clear if Windows 11 users are also affected, but it’s worth checking for security updates even if you use this latest software version from Microsoft.

Explaining more about the error, Microsoft said: “An unauthorized attacker could call an LSARPC interface method and force the domain controller to authenticate to the attacker using NTLM. This security update detects anonymous attempts to connect to LSARPC and disables it.”

This hot version is part of the Microsoft Patch Tuesday security updates, and it is recommended that anyone with a Windows computer make sure they are using the latest version of their software.

HERE’S HOW TO UPDATE:

In Windows 10, you decide when and how to get the latest updates to keep your device running smoothly and securely. To manage your options and see the available updates, select Check for Windows updates. Or select the Start button and then go to Settings> Update & Security> Windows Update.

In Windows 11, you decide when and how to get the latest updates to keep your device running smoothly and securely. To manage your options and see the available updates, select Check for Windows updates. Or choose Start> Settings> Windows Update.

This latest update comes as Microsoft recently issued advice on how to keep computers protected from hackers.

The guide was published to coincide with last week’s World Password Day event, which aims to highlight the dangers of poor online security.

The company is now urging its billions of users to make some easy changes to their accounts, including completely password-free.
