Rebecca Vardy is ready to return to court as her defamation trial against Colleen Rooney enters its second day.

Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy’s wife has sued his fellow footballer’s wife after she was accused of leaking “fake stories” in the press.

On the opening day of the Supreme Court in London, Ms Vardy asked for an interview in which she shared details of “the size of Peter Andre’s manhood” – which she said she was “deeply sorry”.

Her lawyer also claims that Ms. Rooney, who is married to former England striker Wayne Rooney, is “enjoying” the nickname “Ouagata Christie” after her viral social media allegations that Ms. Vardy was standing. behind the leak.

Ms. Vardi denies leaking stories and sues Ms. Vardi for defamation.

The trial finally began on Tuesday after months of preliminary hearings and more than two years after the publication sparked the court battle.

What is Colleen Rooney’s defense?

The court heard on the first day of Tuesday’s defamation trial that Colleen Rooney, who has been accused of defamation by Rebecca Vardi, will rely on protection in the public interest.

But the Supreme Court also heard that Ms. Rooney did not make allegations that Ms. Vardi betrayed her credibility – by leaking stories in the Sun – before publishing her viral tweet, nicknamed “Wagata Christie.” “.

Another defense is that the accusations of treason are true, which she must prove.

Ms. Vardi has since argued that her former agent, Caroline Watt, may be responsible for viewing Ms. Rooney’s stories on Instagram and providing the information to the Sun.

Ms. Watt said earlier this year, before the trial, that data could not be retrieved from her phone in 2021 because her phone fell into the North Sea after a boat she was traveling on in torn waters.

In her written statement, Ms Vardy said she had “no personal knowledge” of the alleged incident.

ICYMI: The process focuses on claiming Peter Andre’s “masculinity.”

The defamation process took an unexpected turn when Peter Andre and his sex life were involved in the procedure.

The Supreme Court has heard that Rebecca Vardy has revealed to the press information about her alleged relationship with the former pop star.

But Ms Vardy, who is suing WAG colleague Colleen Rooney for defamation, says she was “forced” by her ex-husband to tell News of the World of Mr Andre’s alleged small “manhood”.

“This is something I deeply regret.”

Rebecca Vardy was asked if it was “respectful” for Peter Andre’s “right” not to share this information about their sexual relationship with a newspaper.

She replied: “I was forced into a situation by my ex-husband to do this. This is something I deeply regret … It is not pleasant to read and I understand why it is used, and for me it is mud, and Mrs. Rooney’s team was threatened with mud.

Asked again by Colleen Rooney’s lawyer David Sherborn, Ms Vardy said: “The circumstances were completely different.”

She later said that she had not asked Mr Andre for his permission and had not told him that this would happen in advance.

Mr. Sherborn asked, “Did you feel particularly strongly about the size of his manhood that it should be made public?”

Ms. Vardi replied, “That was something I was forced to say.”
