The provincial government has announced the formation of an “expert group” to recommend potential approaches to ensure maximum long-term benefits from the water development of Churchill Falls.
The establishment of an expert group was one of the recommendations of the study of Muscat Falls.
Prime Minister Andrew Fury, Minister Andrew Parsons and NL Hydro President Jennifer Williams will speak to reporters this afternoon.
The panel consists of Chairman Carl Smith, Rexan Crawford (Nunaciat Government), Jim Feehan, David Haye, Jennifer Williams, Rick Hendrix (Innu Nation), Dr. Linda Inkpen, Heather Jacobs, Dr. Nick Mercer Nunatu Cavut), Jane Rowe, David Vardy and Peter Woodward, among others.
Their mandate is to recommend potential approaches by the government to ensure the maximum long-term benefits of Churchill Falls, and if any question arises about the terms of the Upper Churchill Compensation Agreement, adjustments will be made to the process to respect trade sensitivities. of Innu Nation.
