Vancouver crime: suspects charged with death in the park

A young man has been charged with murder in connection with a fatal attack in a park in Vancouver.

City police announced on Tuesday that they had arrested 18-year-old David Bentil in the case. Bentil is charged with second-degree murder.

He is the second accused in the case. Eric Kim, 26, faces the same charges.

The allegations stem from the death of Andrew Wadden, who died in an attack on Saturday morning at CRAB Park.

Police said earlier that they had been called to a park on the Vancouver coast to report that a man had been attacked by two others.

When they arrived, they found the 45-year-old man in danger of death. Despite efforts to save his life, Wadden died on the spot.

Officials said the incident happened about 100 meters from a homeless camp in the park, and a lawyer said Waden was known in the area.

He and his wife have “many friends and a large family and a wide community” in and around the park, Fiona York said.
