One “base” mother, who was found dead in her home, had “multiple stab wounds.”
Lorraine Cullen’s body was found Wednesday night, May 11, at 8:30 a.m. on Radway Road, Houghton, prompting an emergency response. Paramedics arrived, but she was unfortunately pronounced dead on the spot.
A 21-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder a little later on York Road, just a short drive away. An auction examination was carried out, which confirmed the cause of her death as multiple stab wounds.

The 21-year-old man who was arrested is now being held under the Mental Health Act. Police are not looking for other people in connection with the incident.
Police remain at the scene on Radway Road and York Road today, Thursday, May 12, while forensic investigations continue.

“A man was detained under the Mental Health Act after Lorraine’s murder, and although we are not currently seeking anyone else in connection with the incident, our investigations are ongoing. If anyone has witnessed something yesterday morning and has not yet come out then please contact us.
