Snapchat’s new crying face filter is NOT inspired by Amber Heard

A new popular Snapchat filter portrays users as a weeping, chattering mess – making the Internet believe it may be inspired by Amber Heard … a theory that is complete BS.

If you use the ghost app regularly, you’ve probably already seen this feature – it’s an augmented reality lens that you can throw on your glass, changing your facial expression to one that is fun, sad and emotional … and has kids attracted, as many of these videos went viral.

While it may be a hit … it has also become the cause of a new rumor / joke – namely that Snapchat’s heads must have used Amber’s cry last week at the booth as a plan here.

Despite the rampant speculation, we are here to tell you something else … a Snap spokesman told TMZ that there is simply no truth that the lens is inspired by Amber Heard, and if you think logistically – just don’t add it.

We are told that this specific filter – which just fell on Friday – has been in operation for six months … so it was developed long before Amber offered her tearful testimony. More importantly, Snapchat tells us that they would never dare with a DV case.

Another says it has nothing to do with Amber … the fact that Snap has released a filter that does the exact opposite not long ago (a big smiling face), so of course – a sad face will follow.

As we said, the weeping face filter has been in vogue since its debut last week – it has already garnered over 1.3 billion impressions on Snapchat, as we were told – and has been especially used in NFL circles, where some of the league’s biggest stars they had fun shedding false tears for their followers and friends … and, frankly, it’s pretty funny.

What’s not funny … spreading fake news and misinformation – and the AH connection is just that.
