A motorcyclist died in an A38 crash, a man was arrested

A motorcyclist died after an A38 crash in Plymouth last night (May 12th). Police contacted reports of a black Kawasaki motorcycle in the middle of the A38, heading east, on a slip at St Budeaux at around 8:40 p.m.

Units were present and found an unconscious man believed to be the rider near the Weston Mill Junction intersection. A 59-year-old man from Plymouth has been pronounced dead on the spot. His close relatives have been notified.

A spokesman for the Devon and Cornwall police said: “Following a police investigation, we found a white Ford transit van, which we believe may be related to this issue, in the Marlborough Street area of ​​Davenport, Plymouth; a police cordon remains in the area.

“Officials have arrested a 40-year-old man from the Plymouth area on suspicion of not stopping, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and dying from dangerous driving. He remains in police custody awaiting questioning.

The closure of the A38 was lifted around 10 a.m. this morning (Friday, May 13), and police thanked the public for their patience while the road was closed.

The spokesman added: “Investigations into the circumstances surrounding this death are ongoing and it is vital that all witnesses to the clash or anyone who was in the area before the incident contact us immediately.
