Russia has failed to seize rebel-held territory in Ukraine

Ukraine said on Thursday that Russian forces had failed to seize areas in the Ukrainian region amid an ongoing invasion of the Eastern European country.

The Ukrainian General Staff of the Armed Forces said in a statement that Russian troops had tried to take the village of Aleksandrovka in the Donetsk region and the village of Voevodovka in the Luhansk region after conducting “assault operations”, but those attempts failed.

The General Staff listed other failures on the part of Russia, including an unsuccessful attempt to seize areas in the village of Voevodovka.

Russian forces also failed to improve the tactical position of their troops as they stormed the Kharkiv, Bakhmut and Avdievka areas, according to the General Staff.

Meanwhile, the Kyiv Independent reported on Thursday that Russian forces were trying to keep Ukrainian troops in the Donbass region away from the Severodonetsk region of the Luhansk region, a zone of heavy fighting.

Some of Russia’s alleged failures in Ukraine were recently announced, including an update by the UK Ministry of Defense on Sunday listing some of the failures Russia has experienced in its ongoing invasion. The ministry added that these failures “are likely to continue”.

“The advanced deployment of commanders has put them at significant risk, leading to disproportionately high losses of Russian officers in this conflict,” the ministry said in a tweet. “This has led to a force that is slow to respond to failures and unable to change its approach on the battlefield. These problems are likely to continue, given the relative lack of operational command experience of officers promoted to those killed. “

Senior commanders were also urged to go out on the battlefield, presumably to personally lead operations as a result of “difficulties in command and control” and “loss of Russian results on the front lines”, according to the British Ministry of Defense.

“However, it is unclear whether the presence of these commanders on the battlefield has led to an improved or changed operational concept. “Wrong planning assumptions and maintenance failures continue to undermine Russia’s progress,” the ministry added.

Meanwhile, other officials noted that Russia is not achieving the desired goals in Ukraine. Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said at a briefing recently that Russia is not making progress in its war.

“All I can tell you is that the Russians have not made the progress in Donbass and in the south that we think they wanted to make. We believe that they are lagging behind the schedule. “For their part, they met strong Ukrainian resistance,” Kirby said.

The Pentagon spokesman also said that Russian precision-guided missiles had failed to hit their targets in Ukraine, possibly due to “technical problems”, adding that “it could certainly be Ukraine’s defense or it could simply be incompetence on the part of operators.” . “
