MINEAPOLIS (FOX 9) – Heavy storms left Minnesota damaged for the second night in a row.

A man died in severe storms in western Minnesota

The National Weather Service said at least one person was killed in a storm on Thursday afternoon.

Officials say one person died when a grain basket fell on an occupied car just before 7pm on Thursday night. According to the National Weather Service, the accident happened on 45th Street SE, south of 165 Avenue SE near Blomkest, Minnesota.

The Kandyyohi County Sheriff was unable to provide more details about the incident, but said a press release would be issued.

FOX 9 tracked active storms in Minnesota on Thursday

For the second night, the storms passed through Minnesota and the Twin Cities subway area. FOX 9 reporter Courtney Godfrey broadcasts an update from the Northwest Subway.

Demolition of Stevens County

In Stevens County, rectilinear winds have caused damage throughout the county. The photos sent to us by Prairie Wind Chasers show damage to silos, sheds and other outbuildings.

At an Alberta farm, 70-foot-tall grain silos were destroyed as strong winds pushed them off their concrete foundations. An outbuilding in Alberta was also destroyed – dumped about 100 feet from its location. The power pillars were bent to the ground near Choquio.

Stevens County Sheriff Jason Dingman told FOX 9 that no injuries were reported as of 9 p.m., but widespread power outages were reported.

In Morris, the roofs were blown up at the bowling alley and the John Deere office.

Straight winds cross Highway 10 in Becker

The videos shared on FOX 9 show the front end of the winds in a straight line from the storm approaching west of Highway 10. In Becker.

The storms are entering Minnesota from South Dakota

Storms and reported tornadoes caused damage in western Minnesota as strong storms erupted from South Dakota through Thursday night.

Earlier on Thursday night, a wall of clouds and dust could be seen in an image taken over South Dakota by Monahan Flight. Sean Hinant also shot a video with similar scenes over Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
