The eastbound A38 is expected to remain closed until at least noon after a serious collision with a motorcycle and truck last night, May 12. An investigation is underway at the scene of the accident between B3413 (St Budeaux Junction) to A386 Outland Road (Manadon roundabout).
In a tweet, the West West National Highways Twitter account warned drivers of the accident, announcing that the road would be closed “for a while.”
The tweet reads: “# A38 in #Devon is CLOSED east between # B3413 (#StBudeaux) and # A386 (near #Plymouth) due to a serious collision involving a truck and motorcycle. The road is expected to be closed. for a time.”

An update released this morning read: “# A38 in #Devon remains CLOSED east between # B3413 (#StBudeaux) and # A386 (near #Plymouth) at least until noon today for police investigations, after a serious clash last night. ”
A detour has been made to avoid traffic jams this morning.

Deviation route
- Leave the A38 east at the St Budeaux junction
- Take the B3413 and then continue to the junction with the A386
- Continue onto A386 and then rejoin A38 east of the Manadon road
Drivers who plan to travel this morning are advised to take extra time for their trip or even postpone it. The traffic website Inrix reports: “A38 The Parkway Eastbound is closed due to accident investigation work from B3413 (St Budeaux Junction) to A386 Outland Road (Manadon roundabout).
“The road is expected to remain closed in the morning after a truck and motorcycle were involved in an accident. Detour – Via Crownhill Road, followed by Tavistock Road to rejoin the A38.”
