A driver is dead after his classic car crashed into a van in Langley on Friday afternoon.
The incident happened just before 16:00 in block 20700 of Grade Crescent in the town of Langley, according to the local RCMP.
The two vehicles involved in the crash were a 1932 Dodge Caravan and a Ford Roadster, police said.
“The driver of the roadster was thrown from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene,” the Langley RCMP said in a press release, adding that the driver was a 49-year-old man.
Photos of the scene show significant damage to the fronts of the two vehicles, and Mounties said their investigation so far has suggested that the hot rod “suddenly veered” and collided with the caravan.
“It is believed that the deceased may have suffered a medical event,” police said. “The driver of the Caravan was mostly unharmed, but extremely affected by the shock.
BC’s emergency services told CTV News that they had sent two ambulances and two modern life support vehicles to the scene, but no patients had been transported.
Police have asked anyone with information about the crash who has not yet spoken to police to call 604-532-3200.
