Bucks cancel the game 7 game after shooting

The Milwaukee Bucks have canceled a game to watch Game 7 in Fiserv Forum Square after a series of shootings left 21 people injured after losing Game 6 in the arena on Friday.

All victims are expected to survive, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Calling the shooting “horrific” and “devastating”, Bucks called the repeal “a way to allow law enforcement to devote the necessary resources to the ongoing investigation into last night’s events”.

The full statement:

The shooting that took place in downtown Milwaukee last night was horrific, and we condemn this devastating violence. We are grateful to the local law enforcement authorities for their valiant efforts to try to control the dangerous and mobile situation. Although these incidents took place outside the Deer District property, he clearly resonated with fans leaving the arena and leaving the square. Security, health and well-being are always our top priorities for our guests and staff, and we appreciate the hard work of our security team to protect our fans.

To allow law enforcement to devote the necessary resources to the ongoing investigation into last night’s events, we have decided to cancel tomorrow’s planned party in the square. Businesses in the Deer District will remain open as usual. We continue to work with the Milwaukee Police Department and other public safety partners to provide a safe and friendly environment for our fans. We plan to have more details soon.

3 shootings in 2 hours near Bucks Arena

The first shooting took place in the final minutes of Game 6, as thousands of Bucks fans gathered in the Deer District outside the arena to watch the show’s potential clincher. Three people were injured, including a 16-year-old girl and a 19-year-old man arrested by police.

The shooting was close enough to the Deer District to cause a mass exodus of Bucks fans.

The other two shootings reportedly occurred a few blocks from the arena, across the Milwaukee River on North Water Street near Highland Avenue, all within two hours.

The story continues

The first injured only one person, while the second injured 17 people aged 17 to 45. Five of the victims were reportedly armed and detained by police. Ten people, a group of both minors and adults, were reportedly arrested for the mass shooting. Nine weapons were reportedly found.

Unfortunately, the incidents were not the first cases of gun violence observed near the Fiserv Forum this year. According to the Journal Sentinel, a chef was shot and killed at The Loaded Slate bar in April while a Brownstone Social Lounge employee was killed and two others were injured by a man who was escorted after being denied entry.
