The protected champions have been dethroned. The Boston Celtics dominated the Milwaukee Bucks in games 7, 109-81 and qualified for the finals of the Eastern Conference, where they will meet the top Miami Heat. Grant Williams finished with the top 27 points in the game, including seven three-pointers, while the Celtics took care of the home business and knocked out the first consecutive victories in the series for each team.
Janice Adetokunmpo (25 points, 20 rebounds, nine assists) was dominant at first, but cooled considerably as his Bucks struggled to cope with Boston, especially in the 3-point game. The Celtics shot 22 for 55 from deep, while Bucks finished just 4 for 33 (12.1 percent) of 3. Jason Tatum secured 23 points for Boston, including 5 of 9 out of 3.
In what eventually turned into a turning point in Game 7, Marcus Smart committed a three-shot foul against Antetokounmpo with a half-time strike. From there, the Celtics beat Bucks 61-38 the rest of the way, although Tatum sat for most of the third quarter with four fouls. Boston led 79-64 in the fourth quarter, but unlike Game 5, where they gave a double-digit lead, they managed to hold on to victory.
