Marvel Studios and Disney’s “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,” starring Benedict Cumberbatch, ended its second weekend with nearly $ 700 million in global ticket sales.
Directed by Sam Raimi, the sequel grossed $ 61 million out of 4,534 cinemas for a 10-day total revenue of $ 291.9 million. The film fell 67 percent; Disney hoped for a drop of more than 65 percent.
The weekend started with 16.7 million dollars on Friday.
Overseas, the photo of the superhero earned another $ 83.5 million for a foreign total of $ 396.2 million and a global recovery of $ 688.1 million.
Doctor Strange 2 easily topped the charts as a new Firestarter offering – based on the Stephen King tale – exploded. The Universal and Blumhouse film opened for $ 3.8 million from 3,412 theaters.
Firestarter debuted day and date in the sister streaming service of Universal Pictures Peacock, which makes it difficult to compare at the box office. Bad reviews and C-CinemaScore certainly didn’t help.
The reboot follows parents (Zac Efron, Sidney Lemon) who have been on the run for more than a decade, trying to hide their daughter (Ryan Kiera Armstrong) from a shady federal agency that wants to use its fire-fighting abilities to its advantage.
Directed by Keith Thomas and written by Scott Teams, the film was produced by Jason Bloom and Akiva Goldsman.
Firestarter ranked No. 4 for the weekend after Dr. Strange 2 and a couple of family movies that are stored, Bad Boys and Sonic the Hedgehog 2.
The universal animated photo Bad Guys ranks second in the country with $ 6.9 million for North America for a total of $ 99.3 million and $ 165.6 million worldwide.
Paramount’s Sonic the Hedgehog 2 grossed $ 4.6 million for an internal result of $ 175.7 million.
The indie hit A24 Everything Everywhere and at once finished the top five with $ 3.3 million from 1,726 cinemas for an impressive $ 71.1 million in the domestic market.
Also at the special box office, Roadside Attractions unveiled the faith-based comedy Family Camp in 854 locations. The film debuted with $ 1.4 million.
